Mrs Breakfast
Project Status:
100% Complete
Project Start Date:
Spring 2007
Key Features:
Project for UCLA ME Senior Design Class
Mrs. Breakfast completely automates the cooking of a hearty 3 egg breakfast. Simply set and forget. :)
Team Project (approx. 6 team members)
I was responsible for all systems engineering and personally designed the egg cracking mechanism.
Key Fabrication Methods:
Water Jet cutting
Electronics rapid prototyping
Traditional fabrication (cutting, drilling, etc)
Next Steps:
This was a senior final project. Our project was the only A+ the professor had ever given.
Things I like about this build:
This remains a memorable project to me for 2 reasons:
The professor specifically warned us we'd be unlikely to make this work and we should pick an easier project.
We went through so many eggs during testing, that we made an entire floor of our engineering building smell like rotten eggs
Things I don't like:
Our slide for getting the eggs down to the pan wasn't a great design and had a high probability of damaging the egg yolk on the way to the pan.
Closing thoughts:
This project was the first time I realized that I continuously iterate designs/solutions in my head and that I was more talented than most of my peers with mechanical design
